For my WordPress Site Context idea, I was thinking of creating a blogsite for Hidden Gems in Chicago. This would focus on hidden food places, dessert spots, coffee shops and local businesses in the area. I know I am always on the hunt, so I thought this would be a fun and creative idea that gets me to research and have something to reference back to.
The audience for this site would primarily be for Chicago/Chicago-land locals, people visiting from out of town, students and young professionals. The site will be an organized way to give recommendations and help those who are looking for places that aren’t “obvious” or stereotypical. People would want come back to the site for this reason, because they want to find new places or learn more about what different neighborhoods have to offer.
The main creator for this site would be someone like me who is interested in discovering new places. There are also other creators out there you can partner with or try out similar spots. Since this this an interactive site, the readers can comment and share their thoughts, questions, suggestions or own recommendations as well. The type of content this will be posted are restaurant reviews, dessert finds, coffee shop suggestions, maybe bookstore nooks and anything that you would want to explore.
Use cases:
- College student looking for local coffee shops to work or study in or late-night dessert spot after the library
- An out-of-towner, either visiting for fun or work professional wanting to go to places that aren’t well know
- Local resident looking into different neighborhood suggestions (nit just river north or west loop)
I find this to be worth the time and money to create a site like this. If it’s for a local that has family coming from out of town or finding a nice spot that is work friendly to get some things done or just wanting to look for something new, this would be a great guide to use. It helps people look into their communities, find local businesses to explore from and share places that they haven’t been to before.
